9 days later from when I started my first mask! I have provided the community with 306 masks.
I feel so blessed and honored to have provided these masks. With help from my donors this absolutely wouldn’t be possible!!
My small act of kindness 9 days ago, spiraled into this!!!! I think when I say done and added the numbers and names, forms and counted the masks probably way more than I needed to, I cried I just cried! 9 days ago, I was probably trying to avoid eye contact with some of you!! 9 days ago, I was filled with disbelief that my life would get a little harder!! I woke up I felt like complete crap, and I considered going back to bed “who cares?” So instead I got up and My Guy put on the news, as I’m listening people sewing masks catches my attention, then I realized I sew for a living too, so hey why not I can help a few friends and family members and well here we are... But.... people started telling me their story.
Some people I would consider friends and never realized something like this would affect them so drastically, or it could devastate their whole life!!! it just breaks your heart! I have had so much time to think while cutting and sewing. if I wasn’t grateful before I am now!!!! Because some people are going to lose people! Regardless of the virus! Can you imagine getting the call your mom has covid and someone you love has passed from natural causes!!
Bad things happen!! If it’s today or tomorrow next year!! BAD THINGS will always happen!! All we have is each other!!! All you can do is Help! If you can’t figure out what to do or you can’t contribute or donate to a cause. send silly photos of your kids to their grandparents, make sure the people you love know that you love them! Reach out with kind words to a friend you haven’t always been kind too. Understand that other people are going through this too! So, do something instead of nothing! Ask nothing in return and watch how beautiful truly kindness is. Because the most beautiful thing in life is that we get to love!!
Small acts of kindness can go a long way!!!

Daily I get asked questions, it’s filling a heart that maybe believed it was only half empty, now feels like it’s filling up!

Rules of the mask!

- Never wear your mask for more than a day or shift!
- wash it after every use!!
- coffee filters make great face filters.
- if you can’t be kind, tape your mouth underneath. (Everyone’s stressed, Linda, and jerry your not the only ones, so be nice to your cashier or who is providing you with whatever service)
- take mask and coat off before you get inside your cars! Your an adult you should know not to wear your gloves inside it either.
- before you close or touch your car door please use sanitizer!
- leave your damn purse in the car, put cash, cards, small sanitizer or wipes in your pocket of your jacket. Don’t bring anything into the store because well more shit for germs to get onto.
- don’t use reusable bags, germs spend less time on plastic (however be kind and recycle) don’t be a douche and leave your gloves all over the parking lot either. So gross, annoying have respect for Mother Earth, she’s already showing her wrath! But invade your really don’t know what to do here’s this guide for what you should do in the car!
* Safety while shopping
-This is what this should look like: you enter your car from house, drive to store. Put mask on! Place keys inside jacket pocket, make sure you have debit/credit/cash. use sani wipe to wipe cart down, pop your trunk first, all bags in, use hand wipe, take off mask, stuff in pocket of jacket, grab keys, put jacket in trunk, before you touch your door or close car door, again use hand sanitizer. Proceed home. Take off shoes and than wash your hands again for 20 seconds. If your kids or your spouse need reminding place a planter with Lysol, and hand sanitizer right next to door, so shows can be sprayed and hands are germ free. ( you should still use warm water and soap wash for 20 seconds) Why you should Take Your Coat OFF, gloves and mask and leave them in the trunk, because your literally sitting inside the germ smog by leaving them on! In the trunk and using hand sanitizer seems to be a little smarter.
(Rant over, please be kind and show gratitude. We are in this together)

Update - 3/29/20
Unity Mask

Just so everyone is on the same page. I will not be allowing any more drop offs or pick ups at my home. I will be delivering only. This is to ensure the safety of myself, the family that counts on me, anyone I am delivering masks to, and the public.
Any donations please tie them into a plastic bag, they will go straight into the trunk into a garbage bag waiting, I will take the fabric home, to my basement and wash everything!! And than I will go about cutting and using any fabric donated.
After the masks are sewn, I again wash the mask. Than after drying. I put them right into baggies... please!!! Wash the baggies before you open them! (Lysol wipe, spray, alcohol)
I use Lysol wipes on my machine daily! I also wash the table, the iron, and anything else I need to use.... when handling donations of fabrics or masks, I use gloves and a mask. To ensure everyone’s safety.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, I appreciate all of you, your protection is important to me. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

What people Have to say about them & photos to share!

To my neighbor, my friend, Elizabeth Pelcher:

You made a cloth mask for my immune compromised son. You didn't know the whole story. You didn't know he's been "sick" for the entire time he's been on this earth. You didn't know he was being tested for cystic fibrosis when he was 2. You didn't know he was hospitalized that early for 2 agonizing weeks being tested, poked, prodded, how many vials of blood was taken. You didn't know he bled from every major artery while YNNH's VERY BEST technician was trying to put in a semi permanent pic line. You didn't know he struggles with asthma. You didn't know about his severe allergy to shellfish and tree nuts. You didn't know his body produces excess mucus. You didn't know he doesn't use any of this as any excuse for anything. You didn't know how devastating this virus would be for him.
What I do know about you:
LOVE.
You use your talent, bearing all expenses and time, to construct these masks. Not only for him, BUT SO MANY OTHERS. What you are doing is beyond any measure. I am so grateful for you and to you. You are truly a priceless gift to us all. This gesture brought me to tears because of how generous you are. This is a scary time. There's so much fear, despair, and feelings of uncertainty in our world. And THIS is what being part of a community is all about. I'm so PROUD to call you a friend! I love what you are doing! I Love you for your heart! I love you for NOT BEING SELFISH in this VERY selfish time. I love you for being YOU!
Thank you for this incredible gift made from love... You literally have zero idea how much this means to us.
